Sleep in the Clouds

This series of digitally manipulated images evoke a sense of escapism, where the viewer is transported to a world that is removed from the realities of daily life. Using photoshop, I have created a visual representation of amplified thoughts and emotions. The symbolic use of objects, shapes, and colors, juxtapose their unconventional settings, conveying escapist and dream-like environments. This series is a display of the powerful subconscious and how the escapist mindset skews the perception of reality through a multitude of symbolism.

Escapism is a theme often explored in my practice and this current project is an extension and even an updated representation of similar themes in my past work. While dealing with familiar ideas, I am pushing myself in a new direction by exploring the realms of digitally manipulated images. Artists like Baurjan Bismildin, Benedetta Panisson, and Hiroshi Sugimoto, are escapist artists who each stuck out to me because of their use of symbolism and the moods they were trying to convey with the presence or lack of certain symbols.
